Train to Nanu Oya. Sri Lanka.

This blog has started as part of initiative to show life of a Graduate on BT Graduate Programme. I enjoyed shedding some light on how life of a Graduate looks like but I will be off the Programme (and into wild corporate world) quite soon and wanted to “break free” in the blogosphere as well :)

Since 28.08.2009 is not featured as one of the “BT Graduates” blogs.

I write bit about everything that is connected to my work: professional topics that interest me, work I do for BT, travels I do as part of my assignments. I am one of those fortunate people who like what they are doing (so far) therefore some of the notes might seem a bit casual than others: it is hard to draw a hard line between work and non-work since these are intertwined.

A little about me from professional side: I graduated from Warsaw School of Economics in 2007 and from the CEMS MIM (www.cems.org) programme in 2008. Currently I am working in BT Telconsult (www.bt-telconsult.com) as junior consultant.

I like seeing things happen, people working together and arriving at great results. I also enjoy working with knowledge and information. What am I particularly interested in? Getting Things Done (GTD) methodology by D. Allen, knowledge management in web 2.0 context, systems thinking in an organisation and – last but not least – facilitating effective communication.

How do I go about pursuing these interests? I am using GTD methodology myself, with some success, I have worked in Practice Knowledge Office in BT Telconsult – great team whose task was to help in gathering and storing knowledge as well as facilitating communication between those who looked for information and those who had it. We also used web 2.0 technologies to develop our knowledge management platform. Part of my job was also identifying training needs and organising training events – managed to set up around 6 of those over a year and a half. Quite a lot to get one’s head around of but I enjoy steep learning curves and challenges.

Now, working on a customer project, I am involved in designing training which will help our customers work in a programme structure we’re implementing for them. We are working in Colombo, Sri Lanka at the moment, but my base (for now) is Munich.

When I am not working I dance, snowboard, hike, take pictures or watch movies. Usually with people I call friends :) In time that is left for myself I read or edit pictures I’ve made ;)
